Whew! It is going to be hot, hot, hot this weekend! I know our usual meetings have been done for a month now, but I just wanted to check in with everyone. Have you been making time to be in the Word regularly? Did you miss our last meeting, and you are stumped about what to do without a study guide? Or did were you there at the last meeting, but you lost your notes? Have no fear…
Here is Whitney’s guide that was distributed at that meeting! It will walk you through a real basic process of observation, interpretation, and application. I have been helping out with the Middle School and High School Sunday School class this month, and they are doing this as a group every week! It is encouraging to see them wrestle through with unfamiliar practices.
Pick a book of the bible. Start small. Try Philemon. (We did that one in Sunday School a couple of weeks ago!) One piece of advice Whitney gave was to grab a notebook or a journal, and just write down what you see as you walk through the guide. Trust me, the more you do it the more familiar it will become.
The teaching team is meeting and preparing this summer for our time together in the fall. I will have more about that for you in August. In the meantime, I encourage you to make the time to search the Word. Start small, and work your way up. Make it a priority! It’s important.
Feel free to comment below and tell us what you are reading for your summer bible study time. Let us pray for each other!
